Rockstar has added a vast collection of amazing cars to Grand Theft Auto Online, making traveling quite easy. However, the sheer amount of traffic often delays players due to unexpected crashes and holdups. Regardless of the car, if a person keeps on wrecking their car, going from one point to another will take substantially longer. Consequently, some Grand Theft Auto Online players like Reddit user T3AMTRAINOR suspect NPCs are deliberately crashing with their vehicles.

The user has strong reason to believe that GTA Online devs have programmed NPCs to crash their vehicles into the player’s car. Moreover, T3AMTRAINOR has shared evidence for the same in a short video on Reddit, which confirms this theory. The video starts with the user speeding in a convertible car on a clear road. They approach an intersection with a red light, and another car can be seen moving towards another side of the road. Surprisingly, the said car had crossed the intersection before the user arrived but suddenly moved back just in time to hit the oncoming vehicle, resulting in a terrible crash. The abrupt change of direction of the NPC’s car all but confirms that GTA Online could be programmed to cause more car accidents.
The post ultimately caught the eye of the Grand Theft Auto Online community on Reddit, who expressed solidarity with T3AMTRAINOR and applauded them for bringing it out. The video received more than 7,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments in two days. Most people shared similar experiences in GTA Online, where an NPC intentionally crashed into their vehicle to slow them down. One user talked about a car crash where a GTA Online NPC rammed into their vehicle despite being two lanes away.
This is not the first time Grand Theft Auto Online NPCs have done something out of the ordinary. Players have witnessed some genuinely random acts, like the GTA Online NPC stealing a sparrow helicopter twice and an NPC getting stuck on a plane.
GTA Online is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
